Permeable Ground Reinforcement Paving Grids

The permeable paving grid is a modular paving solution offering a cost-effective and practical solution for reinforcing unstable ground. The product is Sustainable Drainage System (SUDS) compliant allowing unimpeded permeation of surface water through its open-grid design.

A variety of infill materials can be used including gravel, soil, chippings, rubber crumb and many more. The grid has been designed to encourage healthy grass growth whilst protecting roots.

The role of the paving grid is to transfer loads from the surface to a pourous base course underneath, and to provide a stable and even ground surface which facilitates natural drainage. This can lead to significant cost-savings over traditional drainage systems on non-pourous ground surfaces.

The design allows for thermal expansion to occur within the curved walls of the grid, thus reducing thermal expansion in the overall dimensions which can lead to grids popping out of the ground. This is a common issue with plastic paving grids based on straight line geometry on particularly hot days.

Would this product be suitable to put on a lawn area to provide parking for cars? Thank you

Administrator

Hi. Yes, as long as a proper sub-base is provided. Please see the installation guide under the 'Downloads' tab on the product page.

I am looking for a product to run a caravan jockey wheel over a grass area to stop it sinking in when manoeuvring. The main wheels run on concrete. Is this suitable?
Cheers

Hi and thanks for your enquiry. These would work but probably a bit overkill. Customers have had success using our 23mm thick grass mats for this purpose, please see this page for details: https://www.duratex.co.uk/rubber-matting/46-rubber-grass-mat-23mm-thick.html
One of the product reviews mentions use with a caravan jockey wheel. I hope this helps.

I am part of a small community group wyhich runs small events on a grassy area which can sometimes get muddy. I'm looking for a product to provide temporary paving (our events last a few hours) in such conditions. Are the "Plastic Permeable Paving Grids, 40mm thick" suitable for this type of event?

Thanks

Colin

The permeable paving grids aren't really suitable as a temporary surface, as they require a carefully prepared sub-base. If they are installed on an uneven surface, the grids will lift in places and create trip hazards.
A more suitable temporary non slip surface for grassy areas would be the Rubber Grass Mats (RM/1020).

Would this be suitable for the base of a 4.5m X 7.5m log cabin.

Administrator

These can be used as shed bases, but a log cabin would probably require a more substantial foundation.

I would like to use the grids in a gateway in a horses field and around their water troughs in the field ,would they be suitable ? The ground is dry at the moment do you have to prepare the ground or if its level can you put them straight on.The mud can be as deep as 6in or more in winter.

Administrator

Hi there. A sub-base is required, please see the 'Downloads' tab on the product page for the installation guides. There is a soil assessment guide included which will help determine the required sub-base thickness.
